What specialties do you bill for?
A. We are a multi-specialty billing company, currently handling
more than 7 different specialties.
Q. How long does it take to get started with ECM?
A. Once we have all of the information necessary, it usually
takes anywhere from 2-4 wks to have you set up with the clearinghouse.
In the meantime, we will submit paper claims to make sure
your income is hardly affected at all.
Q. How is the work sent to ECM?
A. There are many different ways to do this. We offer pick-up
services to local clients. We also accept postal delivery
as long as it’s sent timely.
Q. Are Insurance payments sent directly to ECM?
A. No. All reimbursements are sent to you, just as always.
You’ll be asked to make a copy of pertinent information and
send to us so that we can post payments and begin follow up.
There are situations where lock boxes are utilized and/or
where payments are sent directly to us, but that’s entirely
up to you and only necessary if your office can’t keep up
with the copying, mailing, etc.
Q. How does ECM handle denials/low payments?
A. Denials are addressed immediately. Erroneous denials are
confronted and if not reversed brought to the attention of
the Insurance commissioner. The same format is used for low
payments. Valid denials usually mean the patient will become
responsible or that a particular service will not be paid
for and should not be billed. In either case the provider
is informed and educated.
Q. How often are patients billed?
A. Patients will be billed on a monthly basis for any balance
due, once payment is received, or responsibility transferred,
by their primary insurance. Patients will receive statements
for 30, 60 and 90 days past due, with phone calls after the
first statement. We are also contracted with a collection
agency that can go after any monies that are difficult to
collect.
Q. What are your fees?
A. Our fees are very competitive and vary depending on the
size of your practice, the scope of services to be provided,
and your current income. We feel that having a flexible fee
schedule allows for us to provide the same level of high quality
services to both the one-physician provider with simple needs
and the large group needing extra services.
Q. Will I have to invest in software/hardware?
A. ECM believes in the notion that every practice is different,
and has different needs. With that in mind we’ve made available
different set-ups that range from you completely outsourcing
(no software/hardware purchase) to completely insourcing (with
software/hardware purchase) and ECM providing monthly support.
